With the development of technology, there have been significant changes to people’s everyday lives, which results both pros and cons. One advantage of modern technology is in the area of communication. For example, people living in different parts of the world are able to contact each other very fast through telephones, emails, Facebook and other types of social networking. Also, modern technology enables greater ways for transportation. For instance, it is now made possible for people to travel across the continents at a very high speed by planes or trains. Thus, it saves time and money for doing something else. In addition, modern technology offers entertainment, support in education and research, especially in the workplace. For instance, users can enjoy video games, music, movies, and so forth. With the internet access in hand, we can surf the web to explore the vast ocean of information, share data and computer resources. However, one English saying states that every coin always has two sides. That means technology gives bad effects to humans, animals as well as the environment at the same time. Air pollution is an example of the impacts on the environment due to the emission from huge factories and automobiles. It is also hazardous to human health. Furthermore, the world is facing climate change because of the advancement of technology. To sum up, as we can see in the statement above, even though modern technology provides both good sides and drawbacks, it can be concluded that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
