Anthony
came from a very poor family. At school,
he was a slow learner, but he enjoyed a music lesson every Tuesday. He left
school when he was 13 years old to work on the farm of Mr. Wood. Mr. Wood was
very kind to him and treated him very well. Tony with his friends Pip and John
found an old piano while they were cleaning an old building to keep Mr. Wood’s
new car. He asked Mr. Wood to keep it in the farmhouse, but Mr. Wood told him
to throw the piano away. Tony wanted that piano and decided to keep it in a classroom
of a small school nearby temporarily as the school was on holiday. Every
evening he went to school to play the piano. One day he met Mr. Gordon was the
teacher of that classroom. Mr. Gordon was impressed by Mr. Anthony’s talent.
Then Mr. Gordon told Mr. and Mrs Wood about that. And they decided that Anthony
had music lessons with Mr. Gordon every evening starting from 4 till 7. One day
there was a music competition and Anthony was encouraged by Mr. Gordon and the
Wood family to join. He eventually won the competition. Since that day on he
became a famous pianist.
