A sample short essay written by a professor at the university

A real kingdom of wonder?

Whenever I think of the meaning kingdom of wonder, it always makes me wonder about everything that happens and i see in her society now. i think i am being so crazy now? yes, I am now.

First, I wonder about how her simple government staff can live or survive with net salary around $200 per month or some would get less than this.

When I compare the income from the salary with basic expenses, i am getting more wonder about how her civil servants would make ends meet.

For example, a small family may need only 50 kg of rice a month, yet they have to pay for power, water, phone, and hospital bills. In addition, they need to buy petrol, clothes and food, as well as entertainment if they may need as I see a lot of new different types of clubs and beer factories opened recently.

With the slim income and large expenses the people of the kingdom of wonder need to deal, many of them would have to catch up the fashionable life styles, modern electronic gadgets, vehicles as well as to uphold their uncountable traditional ceremonies and custom.

Seeing their stereotype nowadays, this great skills of spending, and managing their income, I can conclude that in the kingdom of wonder must live a lot of really wonderful people.

Dear Professor David,

I am writing to inform you that I have got an idea of having guest lecture one or twice a month on Sunday afternoon. The duration for the lecture is about 1 hour and a half to 2 hours. It is worth starting from 2:30 pm.

The purpose of doing the lecture is to arouse students’ attention more on the Faculty of Science of Education and Languages, to alert their awareness of how important the English is, to add variety to the students of English so that they have keen interest in learning language at Harvard University and to get students to know each and share their idea with one another. Besides, this can be a marketing tool to trigger the increasing number of students into the Faculty of Education and Languages.

The guest speakers are all the lecturers of English and they will have to take turn to give a speech to participants. Also, the fourth-year students who get the first-grade in class will be invited to share their experience of how to learn English successfully or to present any other useful topics.  The participants would be all students from first year, second semester to third year.

If this initiative gains approval, I believe all the lecturers and I will be committed to the greatest extent to bringing this idea into existence.

I am looking forward to getting your comments soon.

Sincerely yours,

John Smit

Paragraph Writing Topic "College Years"

Paragraph Writing Topic "College Years"

Sample Paragraph Written by a top student of English
Topic: The college years are the best time for a person's life

After having graduated from high school, some students do not have a tendency to pursue their education in the college or university. Instead, they simply try to look for a job. However, some graduated high school students continue their study in the college. The college years are the best time for a person’s life because of many reasons.

First, they are the years that a person learns a specific skill they need for a job. Unlike primary or high school years, a person learns the general knowledge, but he or she learns a skill in the college. For example, if a person wants to become a journalist, he or she will attend the journalism college. Therefore, a person will work as a journalist when he or she finishes their college years.

Second, the college years do not only provide a person job advantages but also provide many experiences. Students who study for four years at college gain much experience. For instance, students learn how to solve the problem in individually, pairs and group. They learn how to be independent learners and discover the proof by themselves. Students need to do the research by themselves in the library or anywhere else that they can get the information.

Third, by learning at college, a person can make more friends with students studying in the same classroom or even the school. When students are learning in the college, they usually make friend among others. Therefore, having many friends can help a person whenever they have problem. For example, when a person cannot solve one problem, he or she can consult with their friends to deal with such a problem.

In short, college years play very important role in person’s life such as a specific skill they need for job, experiences, and making more friends. Furthermore, I personally think that people should pursue their higher education so that they can easily find appropriate job to make their living.

Sample Essay Writing about the topic "Key Factors to Running a Successful Business"

Sample Essay Writing about the topic "Key Factors to Running a Successful Business"

An Essay written by a group of students of English

Topic: Key factors to running effective and successful business.

Some people prefer running their own business rather than working for others. As a business man, one needs to know what factors that can lead their business to prosper. I believe that a successful business depends upon three important factors-clear business plan, capital and knowledge, skills and experience.

One of the factors that leads to a successful business is to have a clear business plan. It is important for every business to have a definite, clear plan. The plan covers capital, human resources and materials needed to run a business. With an accurate plan, it will not waste us time and money and we just follow what are mentioned in the plan. In short, it is necessary for every business to prepare a very good plan ahead of running the business.

The second factor that makes you succeed in business is having enough capital. Without sufficient capital, one cannot launch a business because the establishment of businesses is to do with cost or expense. We need money to support the business operation such as buying materials, paying building rent and tax, giving pay for staff and many more.

The final important element that brings prosperity to a business is having knowledge, skills and experience. In doing a successful business, we cannot keep doing the same thing and having the same idea. We need frequent changes to our place and policy so as our business progresses well. In order to bring changes and develop, one needs to be knowledgeable.

To summarize, most people believe in the three main factors of running a successful in business. They think that if they put these factors into consideration, their business will become better and in turns get a lot of profits. As a result, they can keep their own business to the next generation for their family.
Sample English Paragraph Writing about the topic"Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Technology"

Sample English Paragraph Writing about the topic"Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Technology"

Paragraph Writing by one of the students of English

Topic: What are the Advantages and Disadvantages of Modern Technology these days?

With the development of technology, there have been significant changes to people’s everyday lives, which results both pros and cons. One advantage of modern technology is in the area of communication. For example, people living in different parts of the world are able to contact each other very fast through telephones, emails, Facebook and other types of social networking. Also, modern technology enables greater ways for transportation. For instance, it is now made possible for people to travel across the continents at a very high speed by planes or trains. Thus, it saves time and money for doing something else. In addition, modern technology offers entertainment, support in education and research, especially in the workplace. For instance, users can enjoy video games, music, movies, and so forth. With the internet access in hand, we can surf the web to explore the vast ocean of information, share data and computer resources. However, one English saying states that every coin always has two sides. That means technology gives bad effects to humans, animals as well as the environment at the same time. Air pollution is an example of the impacts on the environment due to the emission from huge factories and automobiles. It is also hazardous to human health. Furthermore, the world is facing climate change because of the advancement of technology. To sum up, as we can see in the statement above, even though modern technology provides both good sides and drawbacks, it can be concluded that the advantages outweigh the disadvantages.
